Uncover the secrets of a long abandoned castle, and restore it to its former glory!
Secrets
of Castle Velorum (SoCV) is a large scale player housing mod for The
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, revolving around restoring an ancient
castle, and solving a dark history about its previous inhabitants...
The Castle that evolves.
In SoCV, your estate grows as you journey through Cyrodil.
-
Restoring each section of the keep is not a simple matter of buying an
upgrade from a merchant, but may have a side quest or requirement needed
for it to happen.
- Certain features will only become accessible
once you have completed other questlines in Oblivion. For example,
advancing in the Mages Guild grants you access to the spellmaking altar.
Once you reach that point, you will get the opportunity to add a
spellmaking altar to your castle (if you have the Arcane Study built).
- Fully completing certain questlines may grant access to significant and powerful upgrades or services.
- Many of the factions you join will add new useful features to the castle.
Storage
Any good house mod has good amounts of storage, and SoCV is making full use of ODOS.
Drop
off chests are placed throughout the castle, where everything inside is
automatically sorted to an organized set of containers. These
containers are then accessible from places that make sense to find them,
but the same containers can be accessed from different locations.
Displays
SoCV
is heavily inspired by the amazing Skyrim mod "Legacy of the
Dragonborn". As such, the more you collect, the more you can fill your
Castle. Using ODOS, you can complete the Armory with different weapon sets and armors, watch as your vault fills with gold and gems, admire the Grand Gallery as you master skills or reach prominent ranks in different factions, and keep your daedric afticats safe in the Hall of Artifacts!
The Staff
Maintaining
a large keep is no small task, you cannot possible take care of all of
it on your own! You will need staff: a cook, a blacksmith, guards, a
maid, and others to keep things running. Don't worry though, you have a
steward who will help you with everything.
Once fully built, the keep
won't feel empty. You will have many people working there to offer
services. From guards that can accompany you on your travels, to a
winemaker (like in the official DLC Battlehorn Castle), or even a
battlemaster that will spar with you.
Get to know your staff, some may have side quests for you.
Costs
Maintaining a keep and hiring staff has expenses, so keep the gold coming, or the staff may stop working for you. The only person who will keep working for you no matter what is the steward, he doesn't require pay, as he has other reasons why he is here helping you.
SoCV has a lightweight upkeep system, to add realism to owning such an estate. But play through the story and you might solve funding issues.
More Coming!
I will keep adding more info and pictures as I develop the mod, so check back regularly
